I am an experienced and effective Strategic Technologist and Programme leader, specialising in Digital Transformation and Architecture with around 15 years of exposure to large-scale enterprise and cloud environments in the Public and Private Sectors. I focus on omni-channel customers and run small technology startups in my spare time to keep myself close to the forefront of the digital world. I have managed several large technology teams and have decades of experiences working with stakeholders in the Business, Application, Data and Technology domains.
Having worked over 10 years of Digital Transformation and seen the area grow from Web and Mobile to fully digitised business processes and cloud platforms, I can cover a vast range of business challenges in the Digital Transformation arena. I am particularly experienced-in and excited-by Bi-Modal technology strategy, with over a decade focused on Mode 1 (traditional enterprise technologies and strategies) and over 5 years focused on Mode 2 (Digital Platform strategies, Microservices, DevOps, tools/frameworks e.g. NodeJS, Swift, CI/CD, API Gateways etc.). I have led the creation and implementation of high-profile and high-scale digital platforms, such as the UK Apprenticeship service’s £65bn yearly payment processor or Lloyds’ Banking Group’s 250,000-login-per-minute Internet Banking platform.
I possess a wide understanding of enterprise application development, different types of data, release management, hardware, networks, storage & cyber security and of course the equivalent cloud platforms of GCP, AWS & Azure. I have strategically lead the expansion of leading Investment (Capital Markets), Retail Banking (Digital/Retail) and Central & Local Government Integration Platforms, from technology/security assessment and modifications through to scaling and expanding every tier of the infrastructures to perform during the most demanding transaction volumes. I am as capable focusing on the technology aspects as I am creating and championing business cases and RFQs, managing portfolio budgets and decision-making at a P/L level.
Throughout my career, I have managed technology teams big and small, at the Application, Data, Infrastructure and Operational layers. I am comfortable managing large-scale delivery teams, or smaller, more specialised groups. Mostly recently, I oversaw a 200-strong technology department within the Public Sector, which I led with my go-to methodology of enabling Autonomy, encouraging Experimentation and – adopted from my experience in technology start-ups – A Total Focus on Customers.
